    Worth visiting!

i squatted in a tent near a bunch of concrete structures (that i think were) called the drunkyard. a couple of days in, the local fire department had live hose drills and flooded my little slice of forest. i still had fun. i saw a riot and went to a party held by kids who worked at magic hat. good music if you’re into indie folk / jam bands.

Great place to visit! Although it’s on the east coast, it reminded me a lot of Boulder, Colorado. There’s a diverse crowd of people who live, work, and visit. I’d love to go back again.

    Worth visiting!

I’ve always liked Burlington, and coming from Montreal isn’t too hard. I don’t hop the border often, but I figure if I do, what better place? It’s relaxed, it’s well proportionned age-wise, has a small town feel when it’s basically a city. This is an entry about something that happenned the last few times I was there.

(The last 2 Times) I was there, there were people protesting abortions on the street. I was too shocked to remember which the first time, and the second time my kids were with me (and were very distraught because the people yelling at the cars). Some of them were just kids themselves, looking like they didn’t know why they were standing there and others were screaming, their faces screwed up and hate-filled, provocative slogans and drawings in hand.

They scared my own kids and made us want to go home. So we did. It was just a normal sunday afternoon, I thought. I would hope this doesn’t happen a lot in Burlington, and I would still recommend the place. Just remember, as my friend Eve says, you’re still in the US.

Why I recommend this place to visitors  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

After moving to Lunenburg, VT from Las Vegas, NV and I needed some good shopping and more people around with less trees and animals. We decided to check out Burlington and let me tell you we were pleasently surprised! It has many of the amenities a large city has but with the relaxed feel and attitude of a small New England town. Lots of unique shops and plenty of great places to eat. Not to mention lots of great looking college girls. A great time awaits anyone here.

    What a great town!
A few of my friends moved here after college. I used to go visit them on weekends. This place has an awesome downtown that is full of restaraunts, shopping, bars, etc.

Just a really warm atmosphere (even when it’s freezing cold out.)

love at first sight  — 2 years ago

    Worth visiting!

i came here with little expectations. it was by chance that i ended up here for 2 days, but maybe it wasn’t JUST… chance. i fell in love immediately with this place. it is beautiful. the people are wonderful. even the drivers! hah! all along the east coast (from mass to maryland) i’m used to maniac drivers, everyone doing 15 or more above the speed limit or something.. everyone on the street for themselves, uncaringly. and california and hawai’i it’s pretty much the same thing. but driving through new hampshire and vermont, it was totally different. totally the opposite. very nice. not to mention being in burlington after passing miles upon miles of huge uninhabited mountains, it just felt like i was in a different world. i was in awe by the self-suffieciency. the lake-life… the strip-mall life and then this lively downtown-life. it’s funny cuz everything in baltimore closes at like… 6… but downtown burlington on a monday night… things were STILL open around 11! people everywhere! a beautiful mountain view…. beautiful old-american architcture… i was just absolutely enchanted. i could see myself there… for an extended period of time.
