Boston Public Library

With the explosion of the internet, and the declining need to visit libraries to do research, it is especially enjoyable to walk into a large old library and smell the books. Couple that with the historic architecture and modern “exhibits”, and this place is definitely worth visiting.

As a future librarian who is moving to Boston, the BPL definitely moved me. I loved it!

I found this library to be more like a combination library/museum. Of course, there were books available, but there was also an exhibit about Joan of Arc, and a good amount of art hanging all over the place. There was also a collection of rare books that was closing just as I got to that section of the library.

Seems like it would be a nice, quiet place to do some studying, with breaks in between to see some interesting art.

I’ve lived in boston since I was born, love it here and this library impacted life greatly when I was growing up

I spent an afternoon just wondering around, its amazing that such a place is free and open to the public!

The Italian-style courtyard at the BPL is a great place to hang out, read a book, or use your laptop (free wireless).

It’s a large, comprehensive library, and if you’re a local, you probably would go there anyway, but as a tourist, Boston has many other options for you to consider

What library isn’t worth visiting… don’t answer that, I love to read. The BPL is beautiful though and quite large. Definately worth exploring.

I went here for the first time last night. It’s a beautiful building, but I was getting frustrated trying to find a book I needed. The place is like a maze.

lots of places to hideaway, a little cafe hidden in the middle, beautiful building, huge windows to look out at the busy city. And of course, millions of books.
