I had forgotten so much about Vincent’s life and his interesting history. This museum is very comprehensive and also includes works of people he inspired and that inspired him. Definitely get the head set tour, it is really worth hearing an art historian discuss the works and bringing them to life.

They are truly beautiful.

Has good music, nice atmosphere by sutdisi

I really liked this place. I loved the painting and the nice atmosphere. I went there on Friday evening, which they are open till 9:30pm. I guess that and the rain outside was why it was so lively that day. They had a dj playing and there was going to be a live performance later (I couldn’t stay for that one)

I’ve been there 2 weeks ago and there was the Barcelona 1900 exhibition, which was somewhat interesting. There was short videos, models, statues etc.

As an art buff I liked the permanent collection better than exhibition though.

Something I read here made me understand a bit about why I am so attracted to Van Gogh’s paintings. He taught himself to paint and draw before learning from anybody else, because he didn’t want to lose his passion and individual style. For me Van Gogh has really achieved that balance between creativity and abstraction on the one hand, and not being so abstract as to be completely random splodges on a canvas on the other hand. Something about his stuff is just plain awesome.
