Sunflowers was on loan to a museum in NYC. I don’t know if it is lent out often; but make sure it will be there if that’s the painting you want to see!

A review of this place: Has good music, nice atmosphere  — 5 months ago

    Worth visiting!

I really liked this place. I loved the painting and the nice atmosphere. I went there on Friday evening, which they are open till 9:30pm. I guess that and the rain outside was why it was so lively that day. They had a dj playing and there was going to be a live performance later (I couldn’t stay for that one)
I’ve been there 2 weeks ago and there was the Barcelona 1900 exhibition, which was somewhat interesting. There was short videos, models, statues etc.
As an art buff I liked the permanent collection better than exhibition though.

Something I read here made me understand a bit about why I am so attracted to Van Gogh’s paintings. He taught himself to paint and draw before learning from anybody else, because he didn’t want to lose his passion and individual style. For me Van Gogh has really achieved that balance between creativity and abstraction on the one hand, and not being so abstract as to be completely random splodges on a canvas on the other hand. Something about his stuff is just plain awesome.

    Not worth it!

The first time was also the last time. I love to travel, I love to see different things and I hate to give negative reviews. The Van Gogh Museum was so boring. Avoid at all cost if you don’t like paintings! This was one waste of money! I found nothing amazing there…but for the record, my three friends loved it…..

I recommend the Escher Museum in The Hague a lot more than this one!!!!

I went to the museum this weekend. It was overall a great experience. I was a bit bummed that there was no student discount, but the 10 euros was way worth it! Make sure to make it all the way down to the Japanese exhibit because there’s a lot more van gogh pieces down there
