Sisson Museum

I don’t remember exactly what it was, but it looks like a giant bell and it lived on top of Mt. Shasta for a long time and ended up in this museum. It’s a great source of local history and I can remember many field trips here as an elementary school student. My favorite is when they have the quilts on display, local women are still quilters and they make some outrageous crafts.

The Sisson Museum has cool photos that show the creation of nearby Lake Siskiyou, which was created for recreational purposes. You can see pics of the old farm that now lies at the bottom of the lake, and the course that the Sacramento River used to take through that valley. While you’re there, be sure to go feed the fish at the hatchery.
