Found This Inn By Happy Accident

Traveling alone from Beebe, Quebec, to Michigan, I decided to stop early in the evening and enjoy a nice dinner before retiring. I drove the downtown streets, nearing the beach, and noticed the Blinkbonnie Inn. Frankly, the name intrigued me, so I stopped and asked about a room. This is a very comfortable, safe, clean, and well staffed lodging. I was totally comfortable being a woman alone, and so pleased with my find that a couple years later, arranged to meet family from NH ‘halfway’ in Gan. We all stayed the weekend, had breakfast and dinner in the dining room at the inn, and thoroughly enjoyed a relaxing couple of days in a small city/town. It’s not the sort of place to go if you’re looking for a wild nightlife; it’s the soothing sort of interesting village where you can find great food, beautiful handmade craft and art items, and enjoy the water, take a boat tour of the islands, etc., or just sit under a tree and watch the gulls. A historical plaque in front of one very large old building gives a history that was shocking to me as a citizen of the US. Information posted on it that tells a story about the War of 1812 and siege of Toronto that we certainly never heard about in our history classes! Embarrassing. There are theatre and other entertainment choices near enough that you can certainly spend an evening ‘out’ before returning to the inn and taking a dip in the indoor pool. The courteous and hospitable staff were very pleasant. n.kateus www.mydayjob.com
