Cloud Mountain Retreat Center

I’ve returned to Cloud Mountain for retreats now for years. The first time I went it was in the early 90s.

It is not a luxurious place. It is pretty basic, but they’ve upgraded it slowly over the years. For example, they now have electricity and heat in all buildings. They have separate quarters for the original owners, long-term staff, and people on retreat. They have added on to the main meditation hall, such that there is good storage for cushions, benches, and the like, and you can get your shoes on and off inside, rather than outside.

The official address is in Castle Rock, but it is actually closer to Vader. I think it must be over the Lewis County line, and that’s why it has a Castle Rock address.

If you ride STP, you come within a half mile of the facility. I’ve often thought about organizing a fund-raiser for Cloud Mountain through STP, but I’ve never done so.
