Lovejoy's

one of the few dive bar/drinking holes left in Austin. Nothing fancy by any stretch of the imaginationh, go with a crew of friends you just wanna chat with and get your drink on.

I visited Lovejoy’s and found it to be as appealing and divey as Todd had described. It’s a nice respite a half block off the crazy 6th Street action that can be too party hardy for my tastes. Lovejoy’s is real good.

I was there on Monday, and its already my new favorite bar/coffee house/neighborhood hang out. The vibe is awesome; completely void of the usual asanine E. 6th st. crowd. Staff’s great, so many selections of beer, yet so little time. Try the River Stout. Its their own and its only $2.00. Thats cheaper than Lone Star or PBR. As the sign there says, this place is “a different cut of fabric from the rest.”

This place has stiff drinks, an awesome jukebox, a nice beer selection, and a great vibe…who could ask for anything more? The crowd is a mixture of rocker-types and working stiffs, the staff is fabulous, and Chip, the owner, is one charming son of a bitch, who knows how to treat his regulars…Lovejoy’s is definitely worth dealing with the insanity that is 6th street on a Friday or Saturday night.

They always have 3-4 of their own beers on tap. Try out the espresso beer if they happen to have it.
