Scotland - nt so gr8t, akshully.  — 1 week ago

Maybe it’s because I only went to the eastern half of the country, but Scotland wasn’t that great. In fact, it’s old and kind of crusty, with some nice nature but everything in cities closes at 6 and after that there’s only pub culture. Next time, I’m only going to the western side, where all the pretty stuff is.

The last time I went to this place  — 3 months ago

    Worth visiting!

We waited until night and jumped the fence at Urquhart castle and wandered around the ruins while bats swarmed overhead. Walking back to town was probably the only time I’ve ever literally not been able to see my hand in front of my face while outside.

I never thought all that much about my Scottish heritage, but going there somehow felt like coming home. An amazing and beautiful place, except for the whole driving on the other side of the road thing.

Why I want to go to this place  — 4 months ago

Friends who have spent time in Scotland loved it! I had 2 families of ancestors come to the U.S. during the mid-1800s from Oban and from Carlisle, in the U.K., but both families were Scots. I’d like to visit the areas they knew.

    Worth visiting!

I’ve travelled quite a bit, but none of my travels have been as profound as my journey through Scotland…every city we visited was unique and the history of each place seemed noteworthy. A definite must on every cosmopolitan person’s list!
