Gunsight Pass

Gunsight Pass is located in the mountains above Tucson. It derives its name from its appearance. It is simply a narrow notch between two mountains, which resembles…well, a gunsight.

The road to Gunsight Pass is a difficult one, accessible only with four wheel drive vehicles. There is a rather large change in elevation. Because of its location a lot of air currents flow through the notch. It was really windy up there, and actually a bit cold.

Being in Southern Arizona, the area is somewhat…dangerous, shall we say. There were signs warning us to be careful of illegal immigrants and smugglers.
