John Lennon Imagine Peace Tower aka: Yoko Ono's Imagine Peace Light Tower John Lennon Memorial

This candle will from now on be lit on the 9th of October each year and blown out on the 8th of December. It will also be lit on New Year’s Day and on the spring equinox for a week (easter week). For this first month now the light will shine through the night but later it is planned that it will burn from eight in the evening till midnight when lit. On New Years it will burn the whole two days. Energy used for the column is sustainable geothermal energy provided by RE.

Some extra ferries have been added to the island in connection to the column at 20:00, 21:30 and 22:30. These cost 1500 ISK and include a hot drink at Viðeyjarstofa.

If you go, go there thinking of peace, and try to keep it with you through the days.
