    Worth visiting!

We were attacked by macaques at one point, but a lot of interesting creatures and scenery!

    Worth visiting!

Only visited Bako briefly, for half a day. A great experience! We were planning on going there on our own, but decided to opt for our hotel’s guided trip. A great choice, I must add.

We had two experienced guides with us, and we left the hotel (at Damai Beach, spent a week of our honeymoon there) early. This way we were one of the first groups to arrive in Bako that morning (around 08:30am) and we got the see the Proboscis monkey several times! When the bigger crowds (well, it’s not like it’s crowded, but still ;) hit the walking routes after an hour or so, the monkeys disappeared. Amazing creatures, you absolutely want to see them!

    So, my advice:

    1) Get there early (if you’re not staying overnight)
    2) A local guide can show you things you wouldn’t be able to spot on your own
