A review of this place
I was driving somewhat forlornly around downtown Shelton, hoping to find some place to eat dinner. I had just turned on to State Highway 3 when I got a whiff of Mexican spices. I triangulated on the spot and found Las Palmas.
It is not fancy. The decor is pretty stark: cheap plastic chairs; formica tables; red, white, and green floor tiles. A TV was playing Mexican shows in the corner.
The menu is limited. You can have tacos (at $1.25 each) or burritos (at $3.00 each). There are 5 sorts of fillings, including tripe and tongue. They also have beer and Mexican soda pop.
I got three tacos, which was plenty filling for dinner. They had great hot sauces in these sort of unappealing plastic ketchup and mustard bottles. I also got some radishes and cilantro as a garnish.
The food, based on these three tacos and the hot sauces, was outstanding. Even better to consider I got dinner for less than $5. The influx of Mexican immigrants to rural Washington state has been a boon in terms of food, let me tell you.
