Portsmouth Historic Burying Grounds
Portsmouth was settled in 1623 and is chock full of history. Much of it lies in the cities burying grounds. Visit these outdoor museums for examples of local historic figures and artwork. See http://www.portsmoutholdgraves.org for more information.
North Cemetery, located on Maplewood Ave was established in 1754 and is the resting place to many participants in the Revolutionary War, Civil War, sea captains and merchants, ship builders, Governors and politicians, a signer of the Declaration of Independence (William Whipple) and a signer of the Constitution of the United States (John Langdon).
