Worth visiting!
The Centennial Trail is in Washington State and in Idaho. I’m just going to write about the Washington State section because I haven’t been to the Idaho part.
It’s a 37 mile paved non-motorway. It’s quiet, and even on a sunny Sunday, sparsely used. There’s a little congestion around downtown and Gonzaga University; otherwise, there’s just an occasional cyclist or pedestrian.
The trail is in a beautiful setting, mostly running along the Spokane River. Since it goes through downtown Spokane, sections of it are in an urban park. Some of it runs along residential streets. Most of it is in quiet forests and open grasslands.
Since the trail runs along the river, it gradually climbs as you go upstream. Other than this, the trail is really mostly flattish. On my bike, I probably averaged about 12 – 13 mph going upstream, and 18 – 20 mph (above the posted limit of 15, I confess) going down.
There are not a lot of services along the trail. Some of the major trailheads do have restrooms. The visitor center at the state line has bottled cold water available for you to refill your water bottles, along with maps and other information.
