I lived on a renovated school bus, on a horse farm, at the top of Stage Rd., which is less than a mile inland form Hwy 1 and trevails up to an elevation that affords mindblowing views of the coast. The only real commerce in San Greg is the General Store, where locals gather for thier morning coffee, evening cocktails, and assorted supplies and sundries. Live music on weekends makes “the store” a great stop-off if you’re travelling the coast. Santa Cruz is about 90 miles south and San Francisco about 60 miles north. Stage rd. is great fun to bicycle over if you’re in decent shape (big hill); park at the store and ride over to Pescadero for fresh baked artichoke bread from the little grocery store, then ride back and relax with a bloody mary and some great music.
