We got caught in a torrential downpour..  — 1 year ago

Worth visiting!

on our walk. We ran through the Belgian Military cemetery and found this little chapel a dry, warm place to sit and enjoy our last day here. It forced us to be in the moment and slow down a bit. We were glad we had bought baguettes, drinks & a little something sweet from the baker. We had planned to eat along the coastal path above Plage la Paloma. When the threatening rain clouds appeared, we decided to head back taking a wrong turn & found ourselves running for cover in this unexpected area. The statue of the Madonna & Child was overwhelmingly large. It is 38 feet high and dwarfs the little 17th century chapel of St. Hospice. I can’t imagine how it was ever brought up to the site!
