Don't ask me why,, by Ursula Haigh
but I enjoy strolling through old cemetarys and looking at the beautiful statues, engravings and inscriptions on the headstones. This cemetary set high above the city of Menton with endless views of the Cote d’Azur was a peaceful retreat from the busy streets down below. It was kind of creepy feeling because as we were slowing walking along Terry & I became aware of an annoying, guttoral sound and realized that a rather large seagull was following our EVERY move. It seems that her little one was wandering among the headstones as well and she was nervous that we were going to harm it. No worries, we felt like we were in a scene from the BIRDS and left well enough alone!
William Webb Ellis is buried here. He invented the game of Rugby!
