Take your pictures of the trees next to something as a reference otherwise they just look like trees. 3. Bears live in that area, be bear ready. NO FOOD! 4. Take a hydration pack. Just the drive alone ot the General Sherman Sequoia is a noteworthy experience. It has some of the most amazing vistas anywhere. The trees themselves are almost beyond compare. Hundreds of feet tall some over 30 feet around. We saw just a small portion of the park and were very glad we took the time to see it. Sidelines you might want to check out: HWY 245 near the outside of the park is crazy! It has hundreds of swithcbacks and was the most insane driving I have ever had to do. Beautiful views but it took us over 2 hours and we were on a switchback every 4-10 seconds. We estimate 1,800 switchbacks! The Cider Mill Resturant is near the park. Just a local mom and pop diner but they actually have apple cider if you ask (Not on the menu). Decent food and great sevice for a good price for a resort town being so near. The UFO house is about 2 miles down from the Cider Mill on the left. It is an old fiberglass house (1970’s vintage) made in the shape of a UFO. over 5 years agoSame Deal Here as at Kings Canyon by russellviiiMy friend has moved out of the area. I don’t anticipate going there anytime in the foreseeable future. I wouldn’t mind going there one day. over 6 years agoUntitled by sir_climbsalotone of the most amazing places i have ever laid eyes on! i knew i would like it, but was asounded by the sheer size and beauty of the trees and the entire park. i don’t think i will ever forget the wonderful smell of the forest! over 6 years agoSee all 15 entries |
