Worth visiting!

This museum is fascinating..

it’s chock full of garden history, wonderful memorabilia, ephemera, exhibits and features a lovely little garden with it’s own knot garden behind the cafe. It’s all set on the grounds of what used to be the parish church of St Mary’s at Lambeth for 900 years before it was deconsecrated in 1972. It was due for demolition in 1976 but was saved by the efforts of the museum’s founders John & Rosemary Nicholson. The graveyard of this old church contains the tombs of the John Tradescants-father&son who were 17th century plant hunters. The graves of Captain Bligh of Mutiny on the Bounty fame and Anne Boleyn’s mum Elizabeth Boleyn are also located here. This museum is really worth the price of admission! I could have spent more time here but we had tickets for the London Eye across the street.
