Powerful work off the beaten track by sipes23

Well, given that it’s near the University of Chicago, maybe not that far off the beaten track. But if this had been in Grant Park, it would be a fixture on the tourist trail. This is not to be missed if you’re a local.

It is a powerful work.

The detail and emotion in this piece are unlike anything else. It’s been restored recently, as vandals have left marks on the art over the years.

They are working on getting funding to light the fountain up at night, hoping if vandals are in plain sight they will be less likely to mess with it.

Taft was a genius. This is one of his best works.
