Amethyst Mine Panorama

This place is awesome. Really. It’s free, I think, to get inside, and then you grab a bucket and go hunting for bits of amethyst on the ground. We went on a rainy day and that actually seemed to help, because the stones were clean and shiny and easy to find. Then it’s about $2 a pound to take home any amethyst that you find (and you will find plenty – the trick is finding jewelry-quality bits). It’s pretty, it’s fun, and the whole atmosphere was just generally good. I would love to come back to this place.
