- I think that the photo is actually of the Odeion of Herod Atticus, not the Theatre of Dionysos (unless they did some serious reconstruction work since I was last there a few years ago!). The theatre that I remember had hardly anything left – just the open stage area and a few tiers of crumbling stone seats.
It must have been magnificent in its heyday as a 17,000 seater! One of the most important ancient Greek theatres.
