Monastiraki

Since I live at Koukaki (is very close to Monastiraki and Plaka and Thisio)
is my first choice for a walk, to just go out for a coffee, for a bicycle ride…for everything
Is like going a trip to the past, without cars or noise from the city just people

We wandered into Monastiraki quite by accident. After coming off of the Acropolis in a heat-induced daze and wandering through the Agora, we stumbled out into the streets of Monastiraki, looking for Plaka, and landed ourselves in a quaint and very nicely air-conditioned restaurant called Cafe Avissinia, where we chilled for awhile, recovering from brain-bake, and ate lunch. We also had a very nice conversation with Nicola, who filled us in on the skinny about Greece, travel, and the wicked and very false rumor that Greeks waiters don’t like it when you tip. Turned into a great afternoon.
