oldest public pool in Texas

Deep Eddy Pool was built in 1915 on an already popular resort site featuring springs that formed an eddy, hence the name. The city of Austin bought it in 1935 and it remains one of the primary pools in a citywide system that boasts over 40 public pools. Like the better known Barton Springs, Deep Eddy is spring fed, but is warmer than Barton Springs’ constant 68° Farenheit.

My swimming classes are at Deep Eddy Pool. It is a little bracing, but well worth it (and of course, you get used to it, especially if you have done much swimming in the Great Lakes).
