Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park

This is a great historic site, at Sutter’s Mill, the place where James Marshall first discovered gold in California. There’s a museum, a reconstruction of Sutter’s Mill, and beautiful views of the spot on the American River where Marshall made his discovery which changed the history of California forever.
