Dinosaur National Monument

I am the same person who wrote the entry below two years ago, just logged in from facebook this time. I actually worked here for six months. The park is great as far as national parks go, the dinosaur aspect has been closed since 2006 but a new museum is going to open in October 2011. It’s going to be fantastic. There will be two new museums, one at the bottom of the hill about other aspects of the monument and one at the top of the hill about the Dinosaurs. I can’t wait to visit it again.

I remember visiting when I was 13 and it was probably the most interesting, fun museum I have ever been to – there were archaeologists digging for dino bones as we drove up! Awesome place to take the kiddos.

Dinosaur NM is well off the beaten path and will take the better part of 4 hours from the SLC.

That said the excavation is aproximately 3-40 feet tall and 200 feet long and is situated at an angle so you can see many skeletons just as they were discovered.

If you can’t go on a dig yourself this is about as good as it is gonna get.

Also there are plenty of dino skeletons in the museum and the gift shop has some top notch reproductions.
