Monteisola

This is the largest lake-island in Europe, literally a mountain flooded by a glacial lake – lago D’Iseo. At the highest point on the island, a secluded monastery provides some amazing views. There is also a “monte cristo” looking castle and a couple of good places to eat. If I would imagine Monte Cristo living on any island – it has to be this one. Best places to stay are in the nearby numerous towns on the lake (Iseo, Sulzano, Lovere).
