Worth visiting!
My birthday celebration
Technically my birthday was Saturday, but I needed to be in Boston overnight on Sunday so we had dinner at Petit Robert. It is a classic French bistro. The menu is small but full of wonderful choices. We started with some onion soup that was too smoky for my taste. However – the soupe du jour of creamy leek and potato was out of this world. With hunks of crusty bread dipped I was almost ready to forgo the salads – almost. We shared 2 – greens with a shallot vinaigrette and a slice of panko crusted goat cheese and frisee topped with candied walnuts and duck confit (impossible to resist).
My entree was the grilled pork loin with duxelles and mashed potatoes – perfectly cooked. Dessert HAD to be the chocolate gateau with a tiny chocolate Eiffel tower. They also brought out some birthday macaroons and a little chocolate joyoux anniversaire!
Service was friendly and attentive. The restroom was not on a par with the rest of the place. But don’t let that put you off.
And although it was the 2nd day of fall, the outside tables were FULL!
