A suburb by Teitur
Being a suburb there is perhaps not much to say about this place except that for tourists the view from up here can be interesting. From up on the hills of Upper-Breiðholt you have a view of almost all of Reykjavík and it’s one of the cooler places to be on new-years eve.
It is also quite close to the natural park / recreational area of Elliðaárdalur, which starts between Breiðholt and Árbær. And to the east it has lakes and the highland (though the city is also spreading in that direction).
There are only a couple of services in Breiðholt that are of interest to outsiders but these would include the museum, library and cultural center in Gerðuberg, the neighborhood swimming pool and the services of the small “mall” in Mjódd.
There are some hiking trails around but the neighborhood is cut in 2 or 3 parts by big streets. Most of the area is a mix of apartment blocks and small houses.
