I walked in off the street. The service was great. The food a bit so-so. I had eggs over easy (and they were good; very very slightly runny whites towards the inside. I think that they really make a distinction between “over-easy” and “over-medium”). I think that the sausage is quite distinctive. I asked the waiter about it and he told me that it was seasoned with fennel, “edge” (?), thyme and wine. It was good, but there was far too much of it. They did allow me to substitute fruit for the home fries, always a good sign. The fruit was good, though the melon was rather tasteless, but I still don’t know what one can reasonably expect in California in late March/early April. The coffee was terrible. I ordered decaf, and it was both tepid and weak. I should have sent it back, but I didn’t want to make a fuss.

The grapefruit juice was great. The biscuit was pretty good, but also perhaps too large and, for me, not short enough.
