Zwaanendael Museum

I thought that a neat place to stop on a coastline vacation would be the Zwaanendael Museum. How better to get the pulse of this little coastal town that to learn about it’s history and heritage. The downstairs had a video to watch and all sorts of pictures about Lewes, and then you were directed to go upstairs and see more.

What did I see upstairs? A mermaid. That’s right, a mermaid. One of those half monkey, half fish things that you normally see in a Ripley’s museum, not the Zwaanendael Museum. I wanted to ask them about it upon returning to the main floor, but I lost my nerve. Frankly I think they torture the people who do.

Go see it, just don’t ask them about it.
