Worth visiting!
absolutely breath-taking
Boipeba is an island about a 5 hours from the closest city of Salvador. To get there, you need to take a ferry from salvador to Itiparaca, and then a bus to Valenca. Then you take a river boat which leaves every day at noon to Boipeba. It is an island of only 3,000 inhabitants, 99% of which are locals. Hotel, or Pousada owners in the area typically speak at english, portuguese, and spanish; and often many other languages. These Pousada’s are privately owned small oasis’ typically having some where between 2 and 10 rooms, and pousada owners are always prepared to help you explore. This is a place for the traveler who prefers not to have the hustle and bustle of a city while on vacation. There are no cars on the island so all transportation is by foot, mule, or boat, but it is only about a 90 minute hike from one end to the other. Enjoy!
