Lived here most my life, it’s a great little known beach town. Sure the waves are death like and the sand in the water is actually sharp shells and rocks some days, but it’s cool here. We have our liquor store, our burger shack. We have the jungle- the coolest neighborhood in Playa- we have the swanky neighborhoods, the parks, the bike path which elads where ever your heart desires. It’s a lovely town, I miss it a lot.

My husband used to live here..

in ‘70-’72 during jr.high, so we made a point of seeing it on a trip back to LA. He had fond memories of riding his bike a short distance to the beach & hanging out. It really is a great location to everything & yet secluded enough to feel away from the rest of LA. The little freeway to the Marina district-great short cut!

Why I recommend this place to locals

If you’re an Angeleno, you know about the drawbacks to living in the city proper. But you also know that you want to be near all the conveniences that drew you to LA in the first place. PDR is all of that. It’s a small coastal community with few outsiders. It’s smack dab on the beach, but still within an easy drive of most of the major communities of our fair metropolis. Heck, we’ve even got our own freeway (the 90, shared with our pals in the Marina, to the north), where there’s never any traffic—our own little wormhole to the whole of the hole of LA. I love it here because the people are friendly and laidback, the outside noise is minimal (even this close to LAX), and few interlopers ever bother to invade our fair burg. Viva PDR!
