San Juan Chamula

San Juan Chanula is quite a different place. In this village, Mayan and modern traditions blend…with Mayan traditions dominating. I went during a festival and the rituals being observed in the church were eye=opening and a true travel experience. Be sure to visit the wonderful market. Be VERY cautious about taking photos. Lastly, definitely get some background on the village’s traditions and histories. It is possible to book a tour through many agencies in San Cristobal.

One of the most unusual places on earth. I’m not going to expand. If you’re in Chiapas, especially San Cristobal de las Casas, you will hear about this town, and most likely want to visit. It is fascinating.
