Why I recommend this place to locals

Now that “TAR-BUCKS” has moved to GP. I find more reasons to visit CAFECITO BOGOTA even more. I religiously pick up GP’s best cup of coffee from this place every morning before heading to work. Theirs is truly amazing: BOLD, AROMATIC and TASTY. I guess it should not be surprising since the owners are Colombian.

The Weekend BRUNCH (a bargain for the area cafes) is also full of surprises. Unique items like PERICOS EGGS, Huevos con Albahaca or Arepa con Pollo are served over nice ‘n soft Colombian arepas topped with toasty QUESO BLANCO (white cheese).

They also carry authentic French baked stuff and Colombian breads. Coffee beans are also sold by the pound.

Cafecito is a cool place although it’s a little hidden away. The perfect place to escape without being over run by crowds.

Cool mix of colombian and cafe style food

the arepas con pollo are great and different to other arepas that i’ve had.

the colombian hot chocolate is the best chilli style hot chocolate that i’ve had. A review I’ve found describes how they make it ‘with real latin cocoa bars and spices over a stove, and to top it all off they stir the chocolate with a wooden MOLINILLO (wood-utensil) inside an OLLETA (elongated, thin-neck pot).’

the cafe-style items like the bagette with ham, cheese, salad and apples, or the ham and cheese croissants were great.

they have free wireless, but then i normally go to a cafe to escape the internet and get into the real world.

they have a couple of turntables there, i don’t know if that means they have djs sometimes. they have this interesting decor with hessian bags of coffee and ropes.

they are pretty low key and undiscovered, perhaps because they are down the quiet end of manhattan ave.

the staff were nice, and the windowwasher outside was having so much fun i almost wished that i could join him :P
