Hrafntinnusker

This beautiful place is about a half a days walk away from Landmannalaugar. The name comes from the obsidian that litters the place which creates a magical glittering surface. The hiking-hut is close to some hot springs and some great paths. The view from a mountain close by is quite crazy and when I was there in 2005 I think we counted some 10 or 11 glaciers we could see from there.

If you don’t think you have time for the Laugavegur hike I think I’d recommend taking a one day to hike to here from Landmannalaugar could be good. There is much to explore both on the way up and in the Hrafntinnusker area. You could then hike back the next day or the day after. You should pick a good day though.. The first time I came here we walked into the clouds and didn’t see anything around until well into the next day…
