The George Inn

The George Inn used to be an inn just south of London Bridge where travellers could refresh themselves before crossing the bridge into the city or leaving it. Nowadays, it is a traditional pub hidden in a side court, off Borough High Street. The building’s façade is impressive and shows what the original building used to be like. Unfortunately, the setting is slightly spoilt by the modern and ugly building opposite. Today’s pub is not very big but has a great beer garden in the yard warmed by gas heaters in winter.
