Barcade

I love Barcade.

The selection of beer is amazing here, I’ve only seen more beers at d.b.a. in the East Village.

The games are a good selection, Zaxxon, Pac-Man, Tapper, Moon Patrol, many of the hits of the 80s.

The only real beef I have with it is that one of the Gauntlet controllers has been broken for a long time. This sucks because if one person in Gauntlet can’t move, the other 3 players are stuck and can’t move away from them.

There are no pinball machines either, which is a downer.

If you’re into vintage arcade games, this place is bliss. A handful of quarters and a few beers can give you a full night of entertainment. They have most of the 1980s classics, though a few of the machines are in poor condition so you might lose a quarter on one with a broken joystick. The beer list always has a few more interesting items (the Old Crustacean comes to mind). As for when to go, many people like the packed weekend nights, but I prefer weeknights when there is much greater access to games and a good seat.
