The first time I went to this place
I just got back from my first visit to Vegas, family just moved there so I hope to return often! It is fabulous and tacky and busy and surrounded by mountains!I would love to spend more time and se more than the strip, but even if that is all you do, it is totally worth it!

Vegas not for the feint of heart
I happen to go to Vegas this past February for a fashion industry trade show call MAGIC. Coincidentally NBA All Star Weekend followed.
I enjoyed the shopping and of course the casinos. Foodies will love the buffets (my favorite was Cravings). And you have to check out the museums (definitely not your traditional ones). The locals are incredibly nice (and many are ex-pats from NYC). Once you get over the initial shock of slot machines greeting you when you land (and people going to the slots before even retrieving their luggage). You’ll have a great time.
Under normal circumstances (a non-entertainment industry related event), I think Vegas is a great place to be. But for something of the magnitude of All Star, I strongly suggest staying away.
