My plan was to eat around with a visiting friend when most people are eating at home during Xmas.
I heard about Telepan when someone complains it got Zagat’s “best new restaurant” because it’s close to Zagat’s house. They have Prix Fixe lunch($28 3 courses), brunch($25 2 courses) and dinner ($59/69 4/5 courses). You’ll need to pay more for half the items on the lunch menu, and I couldn’t really make it during weekdays, so we opted for the brunch. Some of the dishes are on dinner menu as well, and most of them are more interesting than the regular brunch.
After the free “sweet things” and 2 courses, neither of us had room for dessert, but we really enjoyed the food and love to go back anytime. I wouldn’t say the service is outstanding, but overall it’s so much better than the meal at Union Square Cafe. — and it’s less overpriced as long as you choose the prix fixe.
