Drakesbad Guest Ranch

It used to be you had to go through Susanville operator 2 to make a reservation. Now, you can go online in the off-season months. This may be the only guest ranch in the National Park system. It has cabins and a lodge, and no electricity. No electric lights. You can see not just the Milky Way, but billions of stars. There is a swimming pool that is volcanically heated, and in the night the temp is adjusted up so it’s like a giant hot tub. You lie in there and watch the sky. There are seven lakes, and one has a floating island that actually moves all over the lake. You can watch it move around. There are rangers who tell stories around the campfire. They make all your meals. It is a great place.
