But their historical significance is worth the side trip if you are travelling into or from Las Cruces, or visiting White Sands National Monument.

Its a pretty good museum. They have an indoor museum which explains what they do at White Sands Missile Range (WSMR). They have a few missiles there you can see, and they also tell you about the Trinity Site, which is part of WSMR. Testing the atomic bomb at the Trinity Site is the first major event that took place at WSMR, and it kind of grew from there. Unfortunately, you can only go to the Trinity site on 2 days out of the whole year. Back to the museum though, it tells how they did some of the early experimenting with rockets at WSMR. In a separate museum, they have a restored V-2 rocket that they got from the Germans after World War II. Behind that building, they also have the missile park, which has a variety of missiles, mostly from 50s and 60s vintage. I guess they are still using the ones developed after that and they wouldnt want people to see them.
