Torrance
Worth visiting!
Torrance is the 5th biggest city in LA County. In my opinion Torrance is one of the most unique cities that i’ve ever been to. Yes, i was born here, and i wouldnt rather live anywhere else. Perfect weather, every type of recreation imaginable and most importantly, close to the beach.

Worth visiting!
Torrance is my hometown (I’m in San Diego for school right now though). I don’t understand why everything thinks it’s not worth it. I think it depends more on the area of Torrance you go to. If you’re inland, yeah that’s the crappy part. But the areas bordering Redondo and PV are nice. I live about a 10 minute drive from the beach in a nice house in a nice neighborhood and I love it. Sure, a lot of things are being remodeled to be modernized, but I think that’s inevitable in any growing city. It’s actually kinda fun coming back every few months and seeing what has changed.
Sometimes Torrance can get boring because…if you’ve lived there your whole life, there isn’t much to do anymore. Once you’re of driving age though, you have so much at your fingers. LA is close by and there’s tons of stuff to do there. I think it’s an ideal place to live: close to the beach, far enough from a freeway that there’s not a lot of traffic but close enough that you can get away anytime, not a lot of crime, good places to hang out/eat/shop/play, safe, clean, etcccc. I wouldn’t mind living somewhere like that when I’m older.

Torrance isn’t a bad place, per se, but I found it sort of depressing. It’s full of strip malls, and the real estate is expensive because of proximity to the beach cities. It may be close to the beach cities, but with the exception of a small strip of beach on the Palos Verdes peninsula, Torrance is all inland. If you’re considering a vacation in the South Bay, go to Redondo or Hermosa instead.

Torrance
Not worth it!
I’ve lived here for 4 years after living in Redondo Beach and I have to say that this city is crap. For a beach city, there’s no style or culture, it’s just the filler in between Redondo and PV. It’s the poorer city of the South Bay bunch and there are no tourist things to see here, no museums, nothing to entice anyone. I do live right next to two major freeways though so I can go to other cities fairly easily.
Not worth your time. Check out Hermosa Beach instead.

This is what will happen. You’ll realize you can’t afford to buy a home in Torrance, so you buy in Gardena. Then after 10 years of saving money you move back to Torrance so your kids won’t have to go through LA Unifed, and then you realize you don’t like the South Bay altogether and move back to the Midwest.

Not worth it!
I was born in Torrance, i think. i recently went back to see the old house. Torrance is just a small town that has been stripped of the small amount of culture that it once had. All of the stores and locations that we remembered from Torrance have all been re-modeled or industrialized. [Locals: please correct me if I’m wrong!] Going back was important for me at some level, but i would not reccomend Torrance as a tourist destination.

I live here. Unless you love an old fashioned Foster Freeze, lots that are soon to be dreaded Mc Mansions or Town Homes, a mall that was once one of the biggest in America, but is now torn down and being ruined, and grudges against Palos Verdes, you won’t love Torrance. We have a lot of good looking teenagers, though, haha.
But, one thing I take pride in, is the many movies and television shows that have been filmed here. Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Beverly Hills 90210, Not Another Teen Movie, How Stella Got Her Groove Back, and others that I can’t think of have had things filmed in Torrance. Buffy’s “house” (in the show, of course) was on the street I lived on when it was still being filmed. The school was my high school. And that’s relatively exciting, I guess.
