Yet another free thing to do in Kingston! The Casino Bus!

http://www.thekingstonguide.com/the-casino-bus/

So someone smart once said that all the good things in life are free. In my experience this is true. Either free, or $10, as evidenced by the mightily underused Kingston Casino Buses.

If you are looking for something that involves not only travel and gambling, but also showtunes and a buffet, then I cannot over-hype the McCoy Tours Casino Bus. You pay a small amount of money to get on ($10) and in return you get transportation to a casino of your choosing (Casino du Lac Leamy, Rideau Carleton Raceway, The Thousand Islands Charity Casino or Casino Rama).

The fun doesn’t end there! They also give you $10 in cash (yes, your money back) and a $10 coupon you can use on your next visit. Do the math. You profit.

If you visit Casino Rama the trip includes a free buffet. If en route to Hull (Lac Leamy) you’ll get a free show. We saw Joey Didodo, Frank Sinatra impersonator. Most casinos doll out free beverages and cheap booze.

Perhaps the greatest thing of all is that you don’t have to spend your whole time at the casino. Who can resist playing a few quarter slots for good measure, I know I like to scream ‘big money’ at the top of my lungs every now and again. The bus drivers never mind if you get off and promptly leave the casino area.

If you go the Hull Casino you can hop a dirt cheap city bus into Ottawa for a little cultural excursion. It’s a great commuting option for students interested in getting home to Ottawa for free. Hell, we did it as a summer job for about a week before we realised we were making roughly $1 an hour.

If you really feel like a high roller, buses also depart to Casino Niagara, though they cost $50. From the inside all casinos look the same. Just save your money and head to Hull. The crab cakes at the ‘Banco Buffet’ are out of this world, or at least province.

Most buses depart from the Northwest corner of the Herbies Parking Lot (Princess Street and Centennial Drive). Arrive a few minutes early, as the regulars can be feisty. They’re friendly once you get to know them, and this is another highlight of an altogether lovely trip.
