Ichetucknee Springs State Park

This place is magical, no trash. My kids have such fond memories of driving all night from Colorado, sleeping by the parks front gate and being the first tubes down the river that morning. My older sons always take their newest girlfriends, or partners to the springs for the ride from the headwaters. It will always be one of my favorite places to swim and tube. I live in Seattle now and am thinking of flying there just to tube this fall. I used to live in Newberry, a few miles away before it was designated a wild river and there were way too many beer cans floating there, but now it’s back to it’s true nature.

It was definately the off season. My boyfriend and I kayaked all the way up to the springhead and floated back down again, seeing a grand total of 15 people along the way. I definately reccomend the springs during the summer for tubing… but the off season kayaking was spectacular.
