The Breakfast Klub

The first time I stepped into the Breakfast Klub was for dinner and a group discussion, it was excellent all around. Since then I’ve noticed some great things:
- the ever changing artwork by local artist
- green eggs and ham on the menu (yum!)
- I have personally seen 5 tv/movie stars having coffee there
- and they are never too busy despite having a line around the corner to bring you out a menu while you wait

It took me almost four months to manage to get to this place. My dad and I have been trying to go forever and we never make it. We aren’t up early enough or he gets his lunch break too late or it’s rainy or any number of other things.

Today, my mom took me out to lunch before a doctor’s appointment and we just sort of ended up eating here. So it’s a secret! I feel a little guilty having visited without my dad since we’ve been on this four-month quest.

So to recap: This visit never happened. It didn’t take us five minutes to park. I definitely did not eat a buttery pecan waffle. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Restaurant reviewers call this place “down-home,” and says it serves “African-American breakfast foods.”

What they’re getting at is that the owners put all their energy into the food, not the decor, and there’s chicken and waffles as well as catfish and grits on the menu.

I’m dying to try this place, but I never have the patience to brave the line. They’re open from 6:00am to 2:00pm, and the line is always out the door.
