Why I want to go to this place  — 9 months ago

That should read: Why I have yet to visit this place…

No joke, I live less than half an hour away and I could take my bike there on the trail. Maybe I’ll do that over Thanksgiving Break…It’s a thought!

The drawing is of my BFF and me with a sheep we hope to see at Mt. Vernon.

How amazing and beautiful!  — 1 year ago

Today I took my Aunt Barbara, and my daughter, Angela, to Mt Vernon Estate. We had a wonderful time. I recommend that everyone who can make it go here! Be prepared for the weather, almost everything involves an outdoor walk, and be prepared to spend most of the day wondering around the estate grounds. They are magnificent! The views of the Potomac River are breath taking!

Beautiful place, too-short visit  — 1 year ago

We had to wait a really long time to get in, then the tour was very quick and perfunctory. Would have liked to have spent more time in the house …

Loved Mt. Vernon. Really want to go back, maybe on george’s birthday or on president’s day. They have good food in the restaurant as well. The chicken was great!

A tip I have about this place  — 2 years ago

You can get there, even if you don’t have a car (it’s the furthest historical site where this is possible). Find the address and plug it into wmata.com; you’ll get a Metro->Bus link.

Mount Vernon, colonial paradise  — 2 years ago

    Worth visiting!

I have volunteered at Mount Vernon several times, and every time fell deeper in love with it than the time before! My greatest love is for the working farm down at the riverside, with the adorable sheep and sweet cow and horses that run the 16 -sided barn. What an incredible piece of land, and admirable that it’s owner ran it so efficiently, and that the ladies of the association that currently own it take such magnificent care of it! Fantastic place, only go there with plenty of time, because you’ll probably not want to leave.

Take the boat trip from Alexandria Va. It’s worth it.

I went to high school nearby and went on the guided tour a couple of times.
