Landmark Portrait of George Washington (08/04): Tucked away  — 1 year ago

Worth visiting!

Considering this is listed as an exhibit on the website, I’m surprised it wasn’t displayed prominently. It’s hidden away in one of the American Art rooms on the first floor.

I liked the fact that Washington is holding not only a document with his signature but also a sword. Kind of a reminder of the duality of his role in the foundation of our country.

Brett Weston: Natural Abstractions (06/09): Beautiful and strange  — 1 year ago

Worth visiting!

I really enjoyed this exhibit. It contains about fifty photographs, all black and white, and all looking at natural things like cacti and landscapes in such a different way that it’s hard to decipher the subject until you read the title.

Arms and Armor from the Ancient World (02/17): Not impressive  — 1 year ago

Worth visiting!

This exhibit is relegated to one room, and it’s a small one at that.

I didn’t really enjoy it at all. Everything was clumsy and utilitarian, which is a great thing for the Greek and Roman soldiers that were fighting 2,000 years ago, but not the sort of thing I personally like seeing in a museum.

Probably would be great for little kids or people into military history, but not great enough to justify the entire cost of a ticket. You’re not going to get your money’s worth if you’re just coming for this exhibit.
