Write an entry Entries about this placeTwo months of fun by KleinzI live here for two months and attended the Pretoria Boys High School. I was used to going to schools with strong discipline where I behaved. At PBHS the philosophy was on self-motivation and discipline. Unused to the freedom, I completely slacked off and probably would not have finished school if our family had not moved to Pietermaritzburg. There I was enrolled in Maritzburg College – run very much on the strong discipline model I was used to. So I bucked-up. Nevertheless it was a fun two months (not too much schoolwork, but there are other lessons in life to learn). over 6 years agoIts kinda like a city by notjustsum1Pretoria is smaller than joburg and more laid back, so its defnitely worth a visit. Lotssss to do over 7 years agoI live here! by thestassenBest place in the world. over 7 years agoTo visit or not to visit? by fugueI grew up in Pretoria, and lived there for 22 years, so I’m ambivalent about it being worth a visit or not. If most of my relatives didn’t still live there, would I ever go back? Probably not. Would I advise visitors to South Africa to spend one day less on the Garden Route or in a game park in order to visit Pretoria? No, I wouldn’t. So, on a stricly yes/no basis, I have to say it’s not worth visiting. But if you’re stuck in Pretoria with nothing else to do, you’re more than likely to find some way to while away the time. La Madeleine is a world-class French/Belgian restaurant, Die Werf is an excellent South African restaurant, the Voortrekker Monument and Union Buildings are worth a visit for their sheer architectural scale, and if you’re lucky the jacarandas are still standing and in bloom. over 7 years ago |
