Valledupar

Valledupar, near the Guatapurí river and the center of the Vallenato Global Domination. A sunny valley, between mountains and green, full of music and beautiful women. Every April/May is the “Festival de la Leyenda Vallenata”, a vallenato contest for accordioneers and singers, that presents in all its rhythms and ‘airs’ this strange and beautiful music form (a mixture of indian, arabic-african and german instruments) and the real soul of this hard-working and happy people. Go for it. Go to the Hurtado river and take a bath in the freezing waters from the Sierra Nevada, drink all the scotch whiskey you can take, play some dominó and dance a paseo vallenato with a beautiful girl (with your eyes closed and a really full-volume-noisy stereo).

This place was really worth visiting (and i was born here).
